Publishing houses across America publish SAT preparatory tests by the thousands in an effort to keep up with the huge demand of potential students looking to gain entrance into the college of their choice. As long as the College Board uses the SAT as the standard to gain admission, there will be students seeking a way to gain an edge over the test and ensure a high score. Publishers are more than willing to take advantage of this.

This is why it is important to research up to date SAT prep tests. While you may be able to save some money by purchasing older study books, keep in mind that there were sweeping changes made to the SAT a few years ago. Older books will still have intrinsic value in that they will cover the basics of mathematics, writing and critical reading but they will not include the changes that were made in an effort to eliminate cultural bias.

Several Universities in California claimed that there was an inherent cultural bias within the SAT and after much debate and research it was concluded that this was, in fact, the case. It was shown that much of the material in the SAT would be much more familiar to mainstream America than with many ethnic minorities. In an effort to eliminate cultural and ethnic bias, the SAT has reworked the material in question and the general consensus holds that it is now a better test.

Because of the changes within the SAT, the prep material has also changed which is why it is important to find current preparatory test materials. The demand for SAT preparatory tests is huge and publishing companies take full advantage of that. Books are produced by the thousands but there is also a huge inventory of online and multimedia test materials.

Any and all of these aids will benefit you when it comes to preparing for your SAT's. It is most important to find material that is pertinent to what you want to achieve, that you can afford, and that is compatible with your style of learning.
