Though it did not get its own show until 2007, British people have been enjoying the delights of the Fonejacker since a year before, and in special broadcasts. Such is the groundbreaking and brave approach the program has to humor; it continues to grow in popularity; across the globe.
Created by, and showcasing the multi-personality talents of Kayvan Novak, unsolicited phone calls are placed to members of the public, and those just working away in their daily lives. With hilarious scripts, the laughter is almost unstoppable and you find it hard to control yourself.
The Fonejacker himself is somewhat of a failed terrorist in many ways; or at least that is how he is portrayed complete with "bobble hat"; a beanie with a pom-pom, and a pair of large aviator sunglasses.
He is pictured using phones in a whole host of places, but it is in the characters he plays and the guises he uses to portray them on screen that the real magic happens.
Possibly the most popular character, (or perhaps infamous would be a better description), is George Agdgdgwngo. Clearly inspired by the legions of con artists that seem to be based many African countries, George isn't quite the full ticket for such a scam.
Trying to scam people out of their bank details, claiming he will wire their eighty pounds of winnings immediately, doesn't quite cut it. Nor does his tales of a bird stuck in the bank vault do much to convince people to part with their account numbers. It is simply riotous as he fails, but remains so polite and apologetic.
Equally as much fun for the viewer is the caller from Indian call center Internet Service Providings; yes, with the "S" at the end for effect! That the young worker is not particularly confident, nor has a good product to sell is sure to be familiar to many.
Desperately trying to get people to upgrade their 'internet service providings' or 'mobile phonings' he is confident the deal he can do you is better. However, the prices offered are ridiculous and the worst you could ever wish to find. The whole call gets even better if people complain, and are put through to the manager. This really is priceless humor, snatches of which so many people will be familiar with.
There are more than 20 characters played in the Fonejacker; all as good as the next. When you watch, look out for the mouse which takes the whole concept to another level. Superb!
